Coach in Training. Committed to Equity in Achievement

Hi There! I'm Sarah, a coach partway through my training, working in South East London and beyond. That much was probably obvious. But you may be interested to hear more about why I chose to become a coach and a bit more about my values to see if I'm someone you might be able to work with. â€‹

In my current worklife, I deliver events, programmes and markets for the general public and small businesses. I have been self employed for a long time and while i love the independance and flexibility that brings, it can be hard to stay motivated, to make decisions and to balance the many demands on your time. I have come to depend on my networks of fellow small business owners to combat the isolation, and could not be more grateful for the solidarity and sense of community these colleagues bring to my life. However when it comes to focussing on my business, it's very much all up to me which, even a decade in, is a rather intimidating prospect.

And I know I'm not alone. I work with hundreds of micro business owners, freelancers and otherwise self employed people every year and we all experience common struggles. Coaching gives us space to tackle the problems that crop up in our current personal and work lives; finding work / life balance, diversifying our income, improving our relationships, identifying and prioritising our goals. And so I decided to improve and formalise my coaching skills and join the coaching community so I could help myself in my own business, and work with others to support them in turn.

My values as a coach are the same as my own in life and are very simple: I believe in access for all. Coaching has the potential to facilitate achievement, to support people in fullfilling their ambitions more quickly than they might by themselves. I don't think this is something that should be available to just some people. All ambitions are valid. As a coach I will be finding ways to deliver sessions for everyone, regardless of resources, background and availability. I strive to be an intersectional feminist, holding all people equal, believing that those who experience discrimation must be uplifted, and that our differences should be a source of joy and education, rather than division. I hold a safe space for anyone to be their true self, explore their goals and take action to make their dreams a reality.

I've done lots of coaching workshops as part of management training over the years. I've been a mentor and delivered training sessions for small businesses, both of which use a lot of coaching methods and skills. I've been coached a few times and always found it useful. And in 2021 I began formal coaching training online with The Coaching Academy. I'm about halfway through this course, and it's time to put it into action, so I'm ready to take on some practice clients. If this might be you, pop your details in the form below and let's have a chat!
